If you read my blog you will know that at the beginning of March I announced that I would be taking a break from blogging due to illness. What you won’t know is that from the middle of February I had been signed off work, due to my illness and my blog only continued until March as I had planned my posts in advance.
The break from writing was a difficult one for me, but no matter how much I tried I just couldn’t find the motivation to write my posts despite having a million and one ideas. It seems however that the break has done me the world of good and I’m back on track and raring to go. I have yet to go back to work and actually resigned from my marketing position last week, but despite this I am feeling much better and believe I am well on the road to recovery.
While waiting for the help and support I need from the team here in York I was pointed to Kyra Women’s Project and I honestly believe they’re the ones who have helped me the most so far. The open, welcoming and safe environment at their drop in sessions has given me a way to get out of the house and form a routine, and the family like nature of the people who visit and volunteer has meant that it’s somewhere I feel safe and accepted.
So far I have only been attending the your space sessions and enjoying the craft and camaraderie on offer, although there is a variety of support and courses on offer here; one lady summed it up eloquently saying that this was her church – an accepting, caring group that meet regularly. Plus the coffee and biscuits don’t go amiss either! If you live in York I would definitely recommend coming along.
